CDA Supporting the CME Branch, Our Sappers and Families, Through Strong Connection with the CMEA

For many years, the CMEA has been advocating for Sappers in many different ways; through the Sapper in need program, a job placement program, an insurance program, a house mortgage program and presentations to recognize the achievements of our members. Our association is also a member of the Conference of Defence Associations (CDA). The CDA is comprised of 51 Regular and Associate Member Associations, which represent more than 500,000 regular members, reservists, and Veterans.

New Bridge Built in Time for Key Wainwright Exercise

When 7,000 people are coming over, you pull out all the stops. For a Defence Construction Canada team at CFB Wainwright, that included building a new bridge almost a year ahead of schedule and in the middle of winter.
“It was a big effort on everybody’s part to get this done,” said Peter Burgess, DCC Site Manager, Wainwright.

Col Pilon and Col Gasparotto’s Handover Ceremonies in Haiti

On 13 July 2016 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Col Nicolas Pilon, CD, handed over the reins as Chief of Staff for the Military Component of MINUSTAH (United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti) to Col Mark Gasparotto, MSM, CD.  During a ceremony attended by the Ambassadors of Canada and Chile as well as the Brazilian Force Commander, Gen Ajax Porto Pinheiro, Col Pilon highlighted the accomplishments of the United Nations peacekeeping mission during his tenure as Chief of Staff.
