Prime Minister on LGen Christine Whitecross as Commandant of the NATO Defense College

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, issued the following statement today on the appointment of Lieutenant-General Christine (Chris) Whitecross as Commandant of the NATO Defense College in Rome, Italy:

“On behalf of all Canadians, I would like to congratulate Lieutenant-General Chris Whitecross on being appointed as Commandant of the NATO Defense College.

“Her appointment to this prestigious position speaks volumes of her leadership, professionalism and training, and reflects very well on both the Canadian Armed Forces and our country.

Izzy Doll Workshop – Encounters with Canada

During Remembrance Week 2016, the Izzy Doll Project had another great opportunity to introduce its work to some of Canada’s youth. Conducting a Workshop as part of the “Encounters with Canada” forum provides a great opportunity to educate our youth on the humanitarian work of the Canadian Forces – with emphasis on helping children around the world who may be living a life of misery and despair as a consequence of war or natural disaster.

LGen Chris Whitecross Named One of Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women

For the second time, Lieutenant-General Chris Whitecross, Commander of Military Personnel Command, has been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network. She previously received this honour in 2011. The award is given to proven achievers who are strong contributors to their organisations, their fields of endeavour, and their communities.

Combat Engineer Appointed as 13th Canadian Forces Chief Warrant Officer

We are pleased to announce the Chief of the Defense Staff, has appointed CWO  J.A. Guimond  to replace CWO K.C. West  as the 13th Canadian Forces Chief Warrant Officer (CFCWO).  

Along with the CDS, we thank CWO West for his dedication to the men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces and for his significant contribution to our institution.  We also like to congratulate CWO Guimond on his appointment as the 13th CFCWO.

CMEA Engineer in Need Project in Action in Greenwood

WO Dempsey is an electrician working in the training cell at CFB Greenwood. His wife, Susan, recently experienced  a medical problem causing a severe  infection spread throughout her body, destroying her hip.  After several months in hospital, she has only recently become infection free. She is now awaiting a hip replacement with the first of two surgeries scheduled for 1 November.
