Joint Task Force-Iraq Welcomes New Commander

Brigadier-General Daniel MacIsaac assumed command of Joint Task Force-Iraq (JTF-I) at a ceremony today at Camp Canada in Kuwait. Rear-Admiral Bob Auchterlonie, Deputy Commander Canadian Joint Operations Command, presided over the ceremony.

Taking over as Commander of JTF-I from Brigadier-General Shane Brennan, Brigadier-General MacIsaac will command Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) personnel deployed on Operation IMPACT, Canada’s military contribution to the Global Coalition against Daesh.

4 ESR Ready to Deploy After Ex NIHILO SAPPER

The recent Exercise NIHILO SAPPER, designed to allow military engineers to practice their skills, was conducted in Northern New Brunswick over a 20-day period. The exercise set a new training precedent for 4 Engineer Support Regiment (4 ESR), as members conquered challenging engineering feats, expanded the regiment's operational capabilities, and strengthened community relations throughout the region.

5 CER Conducts Winter Training

On the 3rd of February 2017, 5 CER, 35 CER and 34 CER members deployed to the Valcartier training areas for exercise SAPEUR BLANC 2017. During this exercise, in which the main training phase ran from 3 to 9 February 2017, the troops conducted varied engineer specific training, which was divided into two parts; technical training and tactical training. The tactical component aimed to develop and maintain the basic engineer and soldier skills needed to survive and operate in austere territory.
