75th Anniversary of the Dieppe Raid
2017 marks the 75th anniversary of the Dieppe Raid, also known as Operation JUBILEE. Canada’s experiences in war have been marked by great triumphs but also by harsh setbacks. The Dieppe Raid during the Second World War was one of the darkest chapters in Canada’s military history. It did, however, help lead to important lessons being learned.

CWO Ron Swift Receives CME Branch Commendation
On 9 June 2017, BGen Steve Irwin (Ret'd), our Colonel Commandant, presented CWO Ron Swift with the CME Branch Commendation. CWO Swift will retire on 12 July this year after 35 years of service.

On 9 June 2017, CWO G. Simpkin, CD, was appointed the new Canadian Military Engineer Branch Chief Warrant Officer. He has assumed his new responsibility during the Change of Appointment ceremony presided over by the CAF Chief Military Engineer, MGen J.S. Sirois, OMM, CD.

1 CER Ex SAFWAN SAPPER 2017

1 CER arrived in Chilliwack B.C. on 25 April 2017 ready to conduct engineer-specific training at the OPSEE training area. Several members of the regiment arrived the previous week. They were tasked with establishing the main camp and forming the support elements crucial for the success of the exercise.
