A wildly important goal! That was the focus of a gathering of the CF Real Property Operations Group (RP Ops Gp) Command Team in Ottawa on 18 October 2017.
A wildly important goal is one so important that not achieving it makes other achievements inconsequential. This concept is covered in depth in the book The 4 Disciplines of Execution: Achieving Your Wildly Important Goals by Sean Convey and Chris McChesney.
Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, presented the Medal of Bravery to Sergeant Dale Kurdziel, MB at a ceremony at Rideau Hall, on Thursday, 23 November 2017. This is Sgt Kurdziel's second Medal of Bravery. His first medal was awarded in 2014 to recognise his bravery disarming an Improvised Explosive Device in Afghanistan in 2010.
The citation reads:
Over 100 people, both civilian and military, working within engineering branches around the National Capital Region took part in the CME Fun Run on Friday 20th October 2017. The CME Fun Run is annual event that coincides with the CF Sports day. We take advantage of this opportunity to get all the Engineers from across the National Capital Region together in a friendly competition. As the Engineering branch is has a wide breath of expertise, we are literally “ubiquic”-itous, this event brings us together to promote comradery, renew existing relationships, and brings esprit de corps.
After more than 12 years of work on one of the Department of National Defence’s largest environmental projects, activity at CFB Goose Bay reached its peak this summer with the remediation of thousands of cubic metres of contaminated soil.
“This truly was the peak season for remediation work at Goose Bay,” said Annette Murphy, DCC Team Leader, Environmental Services in Halifax.
Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, presided over an Order of Military Merit investiture ceremony at Rideau Hall, on Friday, November 10, 2017. The Governor General bestowed the honour on 2 Commanders, seven Officers and 36 Members, of whom three were RCE members.
On 18 May 2016, over 200 officer cadets graduated from Royal Military College in Kingston, ON. Among the activities was the presentation of the Major-General John Arthur Stewart Trophy. This trophy is awarded to the top Canadian Military Engineer cadet in his or her graduating year.

I was honoured to be selected as the Governor Generals Foot Guards Regimental Association representative for the VAC trip and, as there was no official Canadian Engineer representative, I assumed that role.
