On 20 October 2014, WO Patrice Vincent was targeted in a lone wolf terror hit-and-run attack in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Two days later, Cpl Nathan Cirillo was gunned down while on guard at the National War Memorial in Ottawa. In both cases, the murderer was an ISIS sympathizer.

Please take a moment to remember these two soldiers, their service, their sacrifice, and their friends and families.

During the night of 25/26 September 1944, sappers of the 20^th and 23^rd Field Companies, Royal Canadian Engineers along with two British field companies, took part in Operation BERLIN. During the operation, some 2500 Allied airborne troops, surrounded and cut off by German forces with their backs to the Rhein River, were evacuated after the failure of Operation MARKET-GARDEN.
