Branch Council Endorses Op GRANITE II

David Burke, Acting President of the Canadian Military Engineers Association, provided the Canadian Military Engineers Branch Council with an update on CMEA activities at their 2 May 25 meeting. Included was a request for CME to endorse the conduct of Operation  GRANITE II, a celebration of the 80th anniversary of our All Sappers Memorial in Chilliwack in July 2026. We are pleased to advise that CME endorsed the planned event and will provide support.

Call for Applicants – 2025 CMEA Bursary

Applications for the CMEA Bursary are open to CMEA members and dependents of current or deceased CMEA members. They must have completed or be in their final year of secondary schooling and preparing to attend or continuing a program at a certified post-secondary educational institution and received by 31 August 2025.  Please note, that incomplete applications, or applications missing any required documents, will not be considered by the Selection Board.

Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery V-E Day Remembrance Ceremony

This year, Veterans Affairs Canada and our partners mark the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands and Victory in Europe (V-E) Day.

On May 2, 2025, Faces To Graves and the Government of Canada will hold a ceremony at the Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery in the Netherlands. It will honour the 2,338 Canadian soldiers buried there and the 100 Canadians who have no known grave.

Colonel Commandant's Birthday Message 2025

Our 122nd Anniversary of the Canadian Military Engineers coincides with the end of my tenure as your Colonel Commandant. This four-year term has been for me a great honour and an immense privilege. This term allowed me to witness and participate in two historical events. The first was my attendance at the State Funeral of Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II, who had been our Colonel-in-Chief for over 60 years.

Senator Yonah Martin presents Korean War Veterans with the King George III Coronation Medal

Three Royal Canadian Engineer veterans of the Korean War were awarded the King Charles Coronation Medal by Senator Yonah Martin in Burnaby BC.

The photo shows Ralph De Coste, Doug Germaine, and Leo Valentine with Senator Yonah Martin at the Coquitlam Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion where the ceremony was held.
