A message from the ADM(IE)

ADM(IE) changed a lot since 2012. Since 1 April, 2014, ADM(IE) has reduced the number of L1 organizations managing DND’s real property portfolio from nine to three. Inevitably, there were a few growing pains, but there was a lot more learning, and we will take those lessons with us when we leave home and launch ourselves into full-fledged “adulthood” by centralizing all DND real property assets under one roof — ADM(IE)’s roof — on 1 Apr., 2016.

Col Mark Misener awarded the USA Legion of Merit

Col Mark Misener was awarded in November 2015 the U.S.A. Legion of Merit (degree of Legionnaire) at Fort Hood, Texas by MG (Major General) Michael Bills for exceptional meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services from July 2013 to July 2015.

Col Misener served as both the G5 and the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army's 1st Cavalry Division and deployed with the Division HQ to Afghanistan.

Tracy Braun Memorial Award

Background: Tracy Braun Memorial Award

To honour the memory of Tracy Braun, the Canadian Forces Real Property Operations Group (CF RP Ops Gp), with support from the Assistant Deputy Minister (Infrastructure and Environment) have created the Tracy Braun Memorial Award. The award consists of a large plaque upon which the names of all recipients will be engraved. The plaque will be displayed at CF RP Ops Gp HQ, and each recipient will receive a smaller plaque.

IE Focus Fall 2015

IE Focus is under renovation. Infrastructure and Environment is growing and, as of April 1, 2016, we will be a much larger and geographically diverse group. The IE Communications Team wants to be sure that IE Focus reflects our new, expanded readership. To that end, we’re redesigning the layout and revamping content.We’re also committing to regular quarterly publication. So, next April, you can look forward to a newsletter reborn.

DCC puts priority on delivering Nanisivik Naval Facility project

Defence Construction Canada has been contracting and managing construction of the Nanisivik Naval Facility, located in Nunavut along the north shore of Baffin Island, just south of the Northwest Passage, near the community of Arctic Bay. The $56-million facility will serve as a docking and refueling station for military, civilian and Government of Canada vessels during the Northern shipping season.

CFINTCOM contributes to documentary as part of an educational initiative

Canadian Forces Intelligence Command (CFINTCOM) was asked to share their expertise in the area of topographic mapping in an upcoming Ottawa Company documentary ensuring CAF accuracy.

Ottawa's Sound Venture Productions, in partnership with the Royal Canadian Geographic Society, unveiled a 10-minute preview of the Drawn to Victory documentary during a ceremony held at the Canadian War Museum in late November 2016.

Legion of Honour Presentation to Captain Albert William Bridgewater (Ret’d)

The Canadian Military Engineers are pleased to advise that Ambassador Nicolas Chapuis presented the National Order of the Legion of Honour to WW II Veteran Captain Albert William Bridgewater (Ret’d) on 10 November at the Embassy of France on behalf of the Government of France. During WW II Capt Bridgewater was a member of the Royal Canadian Engineers of 4 Division who participated in the Battle of the Liberation of France.

The Canadian Military Engineers are pleased to advise that Ambassador Nicolas Chapuis presented the National Order of the Legion of Honour to WW II Veteran Warrant Officer 2nd Class George Fouchard, CD (Ret’d) on 10 November 2015 at the Embassy of France on behalf of the Government of France. WO2 Fouchard is a retired wartime cartographer who landed in France as a member of 3 Field (Repro) Survey Company Royal Canadian Engineers and participated in the Battle of the Liberation of France.
