New Director – Corps of Royal Canadian Engineers (Dir RCE)

On 1 April 2021, the Corps of Royal Canadian Engineers welcomes Colonel Ryan Smith as our new Director. Appointed by the Commander of the Canadian Army, Corps Directors provide the Army Chain of Command with critical inputs on personnel management and succession planning, capability development, and occupation advisor functions. The RCE thanks Colonel Kyle Solomon for his three years of dedicated service as the outgoing Director.

CME Commendation Presented to Cpl Kyle Scott (Ret'd)

In recognition of his exceptional care and compassion in assisting generations of Canadian Veterans to acquire missing medals and awards to which they were entitled, for working with the Last Post Fund in the provision of missing and replacement grave markers and for promoting Canadian military history and continuing to honourably represent the Canadian Military Engineers within his community, Canada and internationally, Corporal Kyle Scott (Ret'd) was presented with the Canadian Military Engineer Branch Commendation.

Its been a challenging year, and with it came new forms of stress and anxiety that most of us had not experienced in our lives. In fact it seems obvious now that this pandemic will be a defining experience for our generation, not unlike what periods of world wars have been for our parents or grand-parents. Yet, despite all that, features were collected and maps were produced. 

CWO João "John" Pereira, CD Receives MMM

CWO João (John) Pereira, MMM, CD has been invested  as a Member of Military Merit. He is currently Unit Chief Warrant Officer at ghe Canadian Forces Fire and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Academy.  According to the Governor General’s site at this link https://www.gg.ca/en/honours/recipients/150-5360 , it was awarded on 21 Sep 2020 but I wasn’t notified until 30 November by VAdm Edmundson (CMPC) and CWO Geoffroy (CWO CMP).

CFB Trenton Engineers Receive Deputy Minister's Commendation

On 10 Feb 2021, MCpl Philip Colley (8 Wg Trenton, 8 MSS, CESF) and William Green (8 Wg RP Ops Det, Roads & Grounds) received the Deputy Minister’s Commendation, Wellness Award from the Deputy Minister and Vice Chief of Defence Staff – See the citation below. Of note, MCpl Colley is the Deputy Military Chair of the Defence Aboriginal Advisory Group. For many years, MCpl Colley has engaged with every community to which he has been posted.
