Voices of Liberation

25 March 2019: To mark the 75th anniversary of some of the most momentous battles in history, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) has recorded the voices of the “greatest generation” to build a unique online sound archive to explains why the Commission’s war graves, cemeteries and memorials are as poignant today as when they were first built 75 years ago. 

The D-Day Copper Cross

On 22 February 1919, the Royal Army Chaplains' Department will celebrate 100 years from the time King George V bestowed the prefix 'Royal' to their name in recognition of its outstanding service and sacrifice during the First World War. His granddaughter, Her Majesty The Queen, will attend a special service of commemoration with the entire Army chaplaincy community, to mark this auspicious anniversary.

Mapping the Battle of Normandy

This summer, the Canadian Research and Mapping Association (CRMA) will launch a massive initiative to help commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Normandy. The CMEA received the letter below along with some sample images from their work.  One of the most important aspects of their effort is telling the too often overlooked Sapper story.
