After Hurricane Hazel, officers from the 2nd Field Engineer Regiment created a Baily Bridge. In 1984, members of the regiment including, from left to right, are Lt/Col Ron Milne, Lt/Col Art Keith, Captain Tom Hatch, Major Mid Kitchen, and Lt/Col John Wasteneys, were granted was granted the Freedom of Metropolitan Toronto in recognition of its work in restoring bridges in southern Ontario in 1954.
