We regret to advise of the death of Corporal John Francis Ezechiel, CD (Ret’d), peacefully at home in Gander NL on 8 November at the age 64 years. John served in the Canadian Forces for 26 years in both the Regular and Reserve Force.
John enrolled in 1978 as an Infantryman and served in Baden, Germany with the 2nd Battalion , The Royal Canadian Regiment. He completed the Basic Parachute Course while stationed in Moose Jaw SK and subsequently remustered to Plumbing and Heating Technician in 1992. John served in both the Regular Force and the Reserve Force in Canadian Forces Base Winnipeg MB, CFB North Bay ON and in Gander NL with 91 Construction Engineering Flight in his new trade. Since his retirement from the Canadian Forces in 2016, John enjoyed spending time at their old fishing cabin on Fogo Island,
During his career, John also served on 11 deployments, including the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, the UN Disengagement Observation Force in 1974 in the aftermath of the 1973 Yom Kippur War and Afghanistan.
The family will be receiving friends at Stacey's Funeral Home on 11 November 2023 from 2- 4:00 pm and 7- 9:00 pm. The Funeral Service will take place from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church on Sunday, 12 November 2023 at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA and the Support the Troops organization. Online condolences can be sent to the funeral home.
