We regret to advise of the death of Sapper Robert George "Bob" Fells (Ret’d) of Davidson, SK at Saskatoon General Hospital on 10 February 2003 at the age of 83 years.
Robert was a veteran of the Second World War and served in the 8th Field Squadron, Royal Canadian Engineers. After marrying his Yorkshire bride, Jean in November 1945, he spent another month in England before returning home to Canada. Jean followed on a separate ship and the two trekked back to Bob's home where they raised three children and spent a lifetime of farming on this father's operation north of Ginivia, SK. Bob was a longtime member of the Davidson branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.
In 2024, Jean was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, the last awarded by the Saskatchewan government, for contributions to the country, the province, and particularly to her community. Jean was 96 when the medal was awarded.
A Celebration of Robert's Life Funeral Service will be held at Christ Church Anglican in Saskatoon on 23 April 2003 at 2:00 p.m. and at All Saints Anglican Church in Davidson. SK on Thursday 24 April at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the family plot in Davidson Cemetery.
