Sgt Murray Victor Johnson, CD (Ret’d)

We regret to advise of the death of Sergeant Murray Victor Johnson, CD (Ret’d)  of St. Albert AB on 8 August 2023, at the University of Alberta hospital at age 58 following complications from a liver transplant. 

Murray enlisted as a Combat Engineer in 1984 and served a 23-year career with the Canadian Military Engineers. His postings included  1 Combat Engineer Regiment, 4 Combat Engineer Regiment in Germany, 41 Combat Engineer Regiment (8^th  Field Engineer Regiment) in Edmonton and the Land Forces Western Area Training Centre in Wainwright AB.  Murray also deployed on  two NATO tours in the Former Republic of Yugoslavia with  KFOR The Kosovo Force (KFOR) and IFOR (Implementation Force).

After retiring from the Canadian Forces in 2007, Murray began a career in the water treatment industry with the E.L Smith water treatment plant in Edmonton. 

Murray was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 271  and the Fraternal Order of Eagles St. Albert, Aerie 2102.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 271 in St. Albert on 30 September 2023 from 12-3:00 pm. Online condolences can be sent to the funeral home.
