Sgt Eugene Francis “Gene” Doucet, CD (Ret'd)
We regret to advise of the death of Sergeant Eugene Francis “Gene” Doucet, CD (Ret'd) of Lower Sackville, NS on 5 March 2003 at the age of 71 years.
Gene was born in Bathurst, NB and joined the Royal Canadian Engineers in 1951 at the Mapping and Charting Establishment in Ottawa, ON as a lithographer and served for 15 years. Promoted to Sergeant in 1962, he retired from the Canadian Forces in 1965 and joined the Federal Government Map Office. Gene was transferred to Halifax, NS in 1978 and promoted to Federal Chief of Printing for Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Ill health forced him to retire in 1985. Gene was always active in the community. He was awarded Rotarian of the year in 1972 for community service. Gene was also vice-president of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #33, Aylmer, QC.
