On 29 April 2022, we will commemorate the 119th Anniversary of the Canadian Military Engineers, which originated from the creation of the Canadian Engineer Corps in 1903.
Many significant events have occurred throughout those years with Canada’s involvement in the two World Wars, regional wars, peace-making and peace-keeping missions, counter-insurgency operations, and in numerous domestic operations. At all times, Canadian Military Engineers have punched above their weight, making significant contributions to the success of those missions. In the current context of the war in Ukraine, I would encourage you to take a moment to reflect on your experiences as a Canadian Military Engineer. Canada relies on your skills and abilities in the same way Ukraine is relying on their Military Engineers, some of whom we trained just before the unprovoked invasion of their country by Russian forces. Our accomplishments are fully recognized by our brothers-in-arms and Canadians at large. I applaud your achievements and those of our veterans who forged the path to success. For those Canadian Military Engineers still serving, be ready to answer the call and continue to make us proud. Happy 119th Birthday.
Chimo!
