For the first time, CFB Valcartier was host national hockey tournament members of the Canadian Military Engineers, serving and retired. Organized by the 5 Combat Engineer Regiment (5 RGC), the edition 2016 of the Beaver Cup, ran from 3 to 7 April welcoming eleven teams from across Canada.
In the competition category, teams from 5 RGC, from 2 Combat Engineer Regiment, of the CF School of Military Engineering (CFSME) and Valcartier firefighters’ team competed. It all ended Thursday7 April with a victory from 5 CER against the team of firefighters from Valcartier with a score of 4-2 in the final game.
In the participation category, the teams included seven teams from Trenton, 5 RGC, Engr Services Montreal-St-Jean-Valcartier, Bagotville, Petawawa, Greenwood and 1 ESU Kingston participated in the tournament. It all ended with a win 3 to 2 of the Trenton team against the Engr Services team of Montreal-St-Jean-Valcartier.
