In honour of the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, the Defence Attaché Office of Canada in France and the Canadian Military Engineers are presenting 80 Izzy doll shadow boxes to communities in France as a tangible symbol of the enduring friendship between Canada and France.
In a touching tribute to the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the "80 Izzy Dolls for the 80th" project honours the legacy of fallen Canadian combat engineer MCpl Mark "Izzy" Isfeld. This ongoing Izzy Doll Initiative project aims to distribute 80 handmade Izzy Doll shadow boxes to communities in France with strong ties to Canada as a symbol of enduring hope, carrying forward Mark's mission of spreading kindness and compassion.
The presentation of these Izzy Dolls to mayors in Normandy is ongoing. To date, there have been 44 presentations. Displaying the Izzy Doll shadow boxes in these communities will serve as a poignant reminder of the enduring bond between Canada and France, fostering peace and understanding for generations to come. #IzzyDolls #MakingADifference #CanadaRemembers
