LCpl Edward Rowland Foster, CD (Ret'd)
We regret to advise of the death Lance Corporal Edward Rowland Foster, CD (Ret'd), quietly in his sleep at the age of 83 on 18 February 2022 in Belleville, ON.
Edward was born in Thorburn NS. He worked for the Federal Government for 42 years. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Engineers Sapper Apprentice program in 1954, and after completing field engineer training and graduating from high school under the program, he served in 3 Field Squadron in Chilliwack BC and 1 Airborne Field Troop in Calgary AB. . He later served a one-year tour in Egypt with the United Nations Emergency Force stationed in Rafah on the Gaza Strip. While in the Army, he won an Army boxing championship for his weight class. Edward left to Army in the late 60s and began a 25-year career as a member of External Affairs, travelling the world many times over and living in Africa, New Zealand, Malaysia, Peru, France, and Thailand.
Edward settled in Belleville to be closer to his family. There was no funeral.
