We regret to advise of the death of Firefighter FR Charles "Ross" Doyle of Truro NS, peacefully on 20 October 2023 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro at age 76.
Born in Truro, Ross dedicated much of his life to serving and protecting his community as a firefighter. He worked with the Department of National Defence at the Halifax Dockyard and volunteered as a member of the Truro Fire Brigade for 29 years, including a thirteen-year tenure as Chief. His commitment extended beyond the fire service, as he actively participated in numerous community clubs and associations, including the Truro Curling Club, Nova Scotia Firefighters Curling Association, and the Toney River Harbour Authority.
A visitation to celebrate Ross's life was held on 24 October in the Colchester Community Funeral Home in Truro. A special service was held in Ross's honour on 25 October in First United Church, Truro, commencing with a Firefighter's Tribute to acknowledge his exceptional dedication to the fire service. Following the service, a reception was held in the Truro Fire Hall.
In Ross's memory, donations may be made to the Colchester East Hants Health Centre "We Care About Cancer" fund or the Colchester SPCA.
