Cpl Ian “Cat” Stevens, CD (Ret’d)

We regret to advise of the death of Corporal Ian “Cat” Stevens, CD (Ret’d) at age 62 in Calgary AB on 16 August 2023. 

Born in Gibsons Landing BC, Ian served with the Canadian Military Engineers from 1979 to 2002 as a Combat Engineer. with  specialties in Improvised Explosive Devices Disposal and Armoured Engineer Vehicle Operator. Ian's postings included 1 Combat Engineer Regiment, 4 Combat Engineer Regiment in Germany, and 2 Combat Engineer Regiment in Petawawa ON. During his career, Ian deployed to the Former Republic of Yugoslavia twice - once with 4 CER on United Nations duty and once with 1 CER on NATO duty.

After retirement from the Canadian forces in 2002, Ian worked on a seasonal basis for NOTRA, the Department of National Defence’s (DND) primary contractor for conducting Unexploded Explosive Ordnance (UXO) risk management, risk mitigation and site characterization activities at legacy sites and other property owned by DND.

Cremation has taken place and Ian's ashes will be taken home to Gibsons Landing, BC to rest alongside his parents.
