Cpl Kevin R. Dunsford, CD (Ret’d)

We regret to advise of the death of Corporal Kevin R. Dunsford, CD (Ret’d) of Edmonton AB at the Royal Alexandra Hospital on 24 February 2022 at age 53.

Kevin served his entire career with the Canadian Military Engineers in 1 Combat Engineer Regiment in Edmonton AB. He had been accepted to Ryerson University in Toronto after graduating high school but, instead, had decided to enlist in the Canadian Forces in 1999. After completing his basic Combat Engineer training at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering at Canadian Forces Base Gagetown NB, Kevin was posted to 1 Combat Engineer Regiment in Edmonton AB. He served for 13 years with 1 CER including deployments of seven months in Bosnia and six months in Afghanistan. Kevin received a Command Commendation for his actions.

In preparation for an impending release in 2012 at the rank of Corporal, Kevin enrolled in the Bachelor of Technology program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) where he graduated with Honours in Management and Leadership in 2013. Kevin had subsequently fielded a few job possibilities and was considering pursuing a Masters degree. He was active in coaching his community soccer league.

A Celebration of Life for Kevin will be held on 26 March 2022 from 13:00-16:00, at the Kingsway Legion (14339 50th St, Edmonton)
